At Friday’s Critics’ Choice Awards, there was plenty to talk about, from the red-carpet fashions to the night’s big winners to the rare tie that had two Best Actress recipients. Appropriately, however, no topic was more important than discussion of the recent tragedy in Haiti — and what Hollywood’s biggest stars are doing to help.



“I think I might go, to do some relief work,” revealed Joe Jonas, telling us on the red carpet that the events of the past few days have touched him deeply. “I’m going to try; I’m going to try to get there.”



On January 10th, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake — the area’s most severe in over 200 years — devastated the country. With its epicenter near Haitian capital Port-au-Prince, widespread damage has been reported, and the death toll could reach as high as 100,000 people. Joe Jonas, however, said that simply contributing a check wasn’t enough for him.



“[I can get there] either this Tuesday or, like, two or three weeks from now. I can’t promise I’m going to go, but I’m going to try,” he insisted. “I really want to be able to support in any way I can; I was going to go to Haiti before, to do similar work there. But now it’s obviously a completely different thing and my heart goes out to those people there and the families and everything.”



With sincerity in his voice, Joe sent out a special message to the troubled area of the world and its residents. “I just pray that everybody’s alright, and I’m going to try and do my best by getting there,” he said. “And I would definitely say, if anyone can give money or support, it’s the perfect way to do it.”
